I am the son of a real estate appraiser.  My father began in the industry in 1959 when the appraisal industry was in it's infancy. When in high school, at the age of 17, I became the manager of a Swensens Restaurant.  After high school, I desired to work in the construction industry.  I began as a general laborer and made $3 an hour.  Knowing I couldn't live on $3, I studied and obtained my general contractor's license at the age of 22.  For the next four years, I performed a of variety of contract construction work for the private sector.  I was involved in the development of low density commercial and single family residential properties. By the age of 23, I had the ability to start with raw land and build turnkey properties. By the age of 24, I realized that though I loved doing construction, I wasn't good at managing a crew.  In 1985, I recognized that the appraisal industry was in high demand, so I decided to give it a try.  In 1987, I obtained an IFAS designation from the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. In 1990, I became a SRPA, a designation acquired from the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. I became a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser with the State of California in 1991.

I knew that in order to get a good market share, I would have to turn my appraisals faster than my competition.  In order to turn my files quickly, I knew that I had to specialize in one segment of the appraisal industry. Growing up in Santa Monica and living in the South Bay region of Los Angeles, I knew most of the neighborhoods already and I knew that I could service the estate residential market better than my competition. I focused on those lending institutions that provided financing for the single family estate market. I began working for portfolio lending institutions that specialized in servicing borrowers which were kept out of the public view.  These types of institutions have a reputation for catering to wealthy borrowers. As a result, I have performed numerous appraisals for movie, television and music stars, as well as professional athletes and prominent business executives.  

I have built a reputation as an expert in the appraisal of residential estates valued in excess of 10 million dollars. I have appraised multimillion dollar estates throughout the westside and South Bay region, including but not limited to Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood and the Pacific Palisades.  From Malibu to the north, to the Palos Verdes Peninsula to the south, I have appraised ocean front estates on the shores of Los Angeles County.

I met John Aube' in 1985.  We have a complementary business relationship. Over the years we have referred numerous clients back and forth and have been close friends ever since we met.
